Individual Who Reached For Ariana Grande during Premiere Prohibited from Singapore
A man from Australia who jumped over a barricade and reached for celebrity Ariana Grande has been deported and prohibited from Singapore.
Johnson Wen, 26, was sentenced to more than a week in jail for disrupting public order and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," Singaporean immigration authorities stated to local media.
He forced his way through camera crews and approached aggressively the performer and artist, who was participating in the Asian debut for the film on the thirteenth of November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.
He has a background of causing disturbances at events and high-profile gatherings, including leaping onto the platform at the pop star's Australian show in the past June.
The occurrence sparked outrage in Singapore, with numerous people claiming he of causing further distress to the star.
The pop star has discussed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a explosive incident at her show in the UK city in May 2017 resulted in the deaths of 22 individuals and affected hundreds.
In the legal process, the judge was informed he had tried to gain access on the red carpet event multiple times, according to regional reports.
He then made a second attempt to cross the barriers. Protection personnel prevented him and held him in place.
Wen later posted recordings thanking Grande for permitting his access and said he was "free."
Authorities detained him the subsequent day and accused him with public nuisance, to which the man admitted guilt.
The District Judge Christopher Goh was quoted by Channel News Asia as saying that he was looking for publicity, adding that he was incorrect to believe he would not suffer any consequences.
The singer has not addressed the incident.
Erivo mentioned the incident to the press, saying that she "simply desired to make sure my co-star was safe."
"I think he didn't mean us harm, but you can't predict with these incidents, and I aimed to make sure that she was OK. That was my initial reaction," she stated.
